Description:
The Alternatives – Fund Controllers position is an Associate position that will be responsible for overseeing the accounting, financial reporting, compliance and operational controls for various fund investments offered by the institution to its clients.
Primary duties:
- All aspects of Audit, Accounting and financial reporting for structured investments. Review of trial balances, working papers, sub-ledgers and reconciliation reports.
- Participation in and management of the external audits for structured investment fund vehicles.
- General oversight and review of vendors that provide fund/partnership accounting, tax and audit services including the review monthly, quarterly, annual valuations and financial reporting.
- Management and review of investment funds’ accounts payable and billing of management fees earned on structured investments.
- Management and coordination of fund administrator, audit and tax preparer relationships with the business group.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret GAAP financials.
- Participation in structuring and formation of new fund vehicles and restructurings to existing funds requiring interaction with structuring, due diligence and marketing teams.
- Accounting expertise in support of Investor Relations for internal marketers and external clients.
- Minimum 6 - 8 years experience; Big 4 accounting firm a plus; CPA recommended.
- Knowledge of US GAAP principles; familiarity with US Federal tax rules for partnerships, corporations & individuals a plus
- Experience in Alternative Assets (Private Equity, Hedge Funds, Exchange Funds)
- Knowledge of public/private equities, fixed income and derivative securities.
- Investment Partnership Accounting and Fund Accounting expertise
- Financial Reporting preparation and review
- Experience with participating and overseeing financial audit engagements
- Strong interpersonal skills and polished presentation skills for investor communication
